4 COMMONWEALTH ATHLETES GET AWARDS


national shuttler koo kien keat, weighlifter amirul hamizan ibrahim, diver pandelela rinong and rhythmic gymnast elaine koon, were selected to be recipients of the OCM-100PLUS Outdo Yourself award for their outstanding performances at the commonwealth games last year. they each received rm5,000 for their golden efforts.

100 plus also contributed rm10k to the olympic council of malaysia OCM.

pandelela create history when she won malaysia's first ever diving gold medal at the commonwealth games after defeating several top divers in 10 metre platform event.

elaine meanwhile won the hoop individual event medal in rhythmic gymnastics in new delhi. her golden effort helped malaysia reach its target of 10 gold medals. she also won a bronze medal in the rope apparatus as well as finishing third in all-round event.

weightlifter amirul hamizan, who won the 56kg category, prove his power at delhi as he also struck gold at manchester games in 2002.

badminton ace kien keat contributed three gold medals to malaysia's tally when he helped the national team win the team event by beating India while taking top spot in the mens and mixed double.

also present at the brief ceremony held at OCM museum is national corporate affairs manager of f&n beverages marketing sdn bhd dato' kamal harun, ocm president tunku tan sri imran tuanku ja'afar, ocm deputy tan sri dr m jegathesan, ocm secretary datuk sieh kok chi, director general national sports council dato' zolkples embong and representative from national association.
